This was a perfectly good post-apocolyptic, dystopian fantasy. It had compelling characters and straightforward writing. I have to admit, I listened to all the hype surrounding the book and thought I was going to read a mind-blowingly original story. Not quite, although I haven't yet read the second half of the series. Still, Howey gets points for self-publishing—and for selling the Omnibus at such a reasonable price. I'm happy to support that kind of cheerful disregard for filthy lucre!
