This book looked so compelling, but never got off the ground. It seemed the perfect combination of spooky setting, gruesome murder — even an endangered child that would normally make me feel instantly invested. Instead, it seemed like Locke didn't know what to do with all of these potentially valuable assets. She just pushed them around at each other, while the plot stalled. Yawn!
