The Importance of Being Seven - Alexander McCall Smith Reading this series has become the equivalent, for me, of soaking in a warm bath, it's that comforting with its cast of polite, thoughtful, civilized Edinburghers. If you, too, enjoy warm baths of this kind, I recommend it. I was a bit piqued at AMS's portrayal of the odious Kirsty as a member of "Women's Revenge" who go about "punishing men." Jeez. But then, if I can't take a bit of ribbing about feminism, I guess I'd be confirming a different stereotype that I find even more odious. So laugh it up, AMS, laugh it up. Followers of the series will be pleased to know that Bruce continues to be grating and obnoxious despite his epiphany of book 5, and Bertie continues, as ever, to be six years old.
