I was really disappointed in Faithful Place. I liked In the Woods and The Likeness well enough. They dragged a bit here and there, but French had me invested enough in the characters that I kept reading to the denouement, where the pace would reliably pick up in the last 50 pages or so. She completely lost me in this third installment. Absolutely *nothing* was urgent. And if I had to hear one more reminiscence of "Roooooosie Daaaaaly" and her saucy Irish ways, I would have stabbed a neck. I don't know if this book was worse than the other two, or if hearing it in an audiobook made it more apparent. Either way, I won't be revisiting it to find out.
